The Website of Author Robert F. DeBurgh.
Hello Everyone and welcome to my website. Before we go any further I think you should know a little more about me and my novels and other writings, so here goes.
I was born and grew up in the north eastern United States. From a very early age my entire life has been dedicated to aviation and writing, from flying airplanes myself as a professional pilot to writing about the people who fly them and my own experiences
My first recollection of flight is sitting on my aunt’s lap in the front seat of an open cockpit biplane flown by my uncle at the tender age of five. I learned to fly at age fifteen and obtained my commercial pilot and flight instructor certificates at eighteen
After completing my military service I returned to college and obtained graduate degrees in psychology, sociology and education and a master of arts in psychology, supporting myself and paying my tuition by doing what I loved best, flight instruction and writing about aviation. My writings have included aviation and sports car columns for several newspapers, many articles for American and foreign magazines, short stories in the realm of adventure, science fiction and fantasy and much poetry. I have also worked as associate editor for “American Roadracing Magazine.” I also worked for a time as a news photographer for United Press International.
At the present time I write articles for “Indian Aviation Magazine” and several US magazines and am the author of the widely acclaimed novels, Riders of the Wind and Winds of Fate. In each of these novels, using my experience and knowledge of the world of aviation, I have woven a tale of high adventure and romance set against a background of actual historical events.
I have sojourned widely in the US, Canada, Central and South America, Asia and Africa. For the past seventeen years I have served my country in the capacity of a pilot examiner for the Federal Aviation Administration until my recent retirement to write full time. I still fly regularly and do some advanced flight instruction for airline transport pilots and flight instructors. I reside in the south eastern US with my lovely wife, Greta, of twenty-seven years and my three dogs.
My new novel, The Winds of Kunlun Shan, is due to be released very soon; this is the third book in the Riders of the Wind series. Also, soon to be released is a short book of poetry titled, Blossoms in the Snow. All my writings are in the pen name of Robert F. DeBurgh. The pen name came about for a variety of reasons I won’t go into here but suffice it to say DeBurgh is the original family name dating back to before the Norman Conquest in 1066.
If you'd like to contact me to talk about my books, aviation, motorcycles, or anything at all, feel free to email me at: [email protected] . Signed, paperback copies of my books are now available from me at $19.99 for Riders of the Wind and $17.99 for Winds of Fate, plus $3.00 shipping.
